Lexi Noel

Lexi Noel

This week’s TDQ Q&A is with singer Lexi Noel. The Atlanta native spoke with us about YouTube jumpstarting her career, her hit single and her anti-bullying message she’s spreading in schools all over the country. Here is this week’s TDQ Q&A with Lexi Noel:

The Daily Quarterly: What made you want to be in the music business?

Lexi Noel: My first concert and writing my first song. I loved being able to perform a song that I wrote, to hear the fans enjoy it and then meeting them.

TDQ: Who was your favorite musical artist when you were a kid?

LN: I loved Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne.

TDQ: What was your favorite album when you were a kid?

LN: I think I was like most kids, I didn’t really have an album, it was more about finding single individual songs by the artists I loved.

TDQ: Who are your influences?

LN: Katy Perry, Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone and Miley Cyrus. I would say definitely what’s top in pop!

TDQ: What is the best advice you have ever gotten?

LN: To always remain humble.

TDQ: What is the worst advice you have ever gotten?

LN: To change who I am.

Man Sues Creators Of Candy Crush Saga, Says Game Ruined His Marriage

Candy Crushed

Travis Kewley was “Candy Crushed” by his wife’s Candy Crush addiction.

Charlotte, NC—A man who just served his wife with divorce papers is also suing the maker of the app Candy Crush Saga, blaming the game for the deterioration of his 11-month long marriage.
Travis Kewley, 23, said his wife, Lacie, 19, “became hopelessy hooked on the ridiculous game, causing her to lose interest in her marital duties including, but not limited to, cooking my meals, doing my laundry and watching me play Madden on the Xbox.”

Kewley said his wife would play the game at all hours of the day and night on her iPhone, ignoring him entirely when he would get home from his night job at Hardee’s. He said she would also turn her phone’s ringer off when she plays, and forget to turn it back on so that when he called her, she “constantly and consistently and repetedly (sic) would not answer” Kewley’s calls. This behavior led not only to Kewley becoming increasingly aggravated with his young bride, but eventually this caused him to think she was cheating on him.

“This is all their fault,” Kewley said in a statement through his lawyer. “If they hadn’t made this game, I’d still be married and not have to sleep on my uncle’s couch.”

TDQ Investigates: Remembering Lewis Grizzard

Lewis is greeted at the Pearly Gates by his faithful dog, Catfish, as depicted by our close personal friend Mike Luckovich, Grizzard's colleague at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Lewis is greeted at the Pearly Gates by his faithful dog, Catfish, as depicted by our close personal friend Mike Luckovich, Grizzard’s colleague at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As I have no doubt every single reader of this site knows, today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of syndicated columnist, humorist and lifelong newspaper man Lewis Grizzard.

Whether or not you were a fan of his writing or his humor or his attitude, it’s a safe bet to say that The Daily Quarterly wouldn’t exist without the influence Grizzard’s columns and his books had on me.

Grizzard was the reason I chose to get a journalism degree. My stated (foolish) goal when I entered journalism school was to be the next Lewis Grizzard. I wanted to entertain and tug on heartstrings and find a way to poke fun at a lot of things that need to be poked fun at. I admired the way he could make you smile, then laugh, then cry, then laugh again, all in the same column.

Owner Of Ridiculously Misspelled Website Name Baffled That He Gets No Web Traffic

KrazeeMannTravvell.com

Recent graduate and entrepreneur Jason Cameron credits a former classmate for his web site’s design but admits he had difficulty finding a domain name that wasn’t already taken.

Chicago—Recent business school graduate and entrepreneur Jason Cameron has found that his new travel website isn’t getting the web traffic he had hoped, despite trying numerous different methods of advertising and backlinks and social media.

“I have pretty much tried everything,” Cameron said from his large but rarely-visited office on Chicago’s North Side. “Aside from everything I learned at Northwestern about running a business, (not to brag), I have also read all about SEO and e-commerce. But nobody is coming to the site. And my number of Twitter followers is pathetic.”

Cameron said the number of unique visitors to his site, KrazeeMannTravvell.com has remained rather stagnant since he launched his business in July of last year. “I booked a lot of graduation trips for my college buddies the first couple months,” Cameron said. “But unless some of those losers get married soon for me to book their honeymoons, they aren’t going to keep me afloat just by themselves. And believe me, none of them are getting married anytime soon. Though my one friend, Keith, he told me last week he’s thinking about proposing Memorial Day weekend, as long has his girlfriend’s dad gets him that job at his accounting firm. Even though he can’t stand her dad. Or unless, his ex-girlfriend keeps the baby.”

Danielle Lenchner

Danielle Lenchner, Jewelry Designer, Coco Lane.

This week’s TDQ Q&A is with jewelry designer Danielle Lenchner. Danielle spoke to us about how she got into the industry, her jewelry company, Coco Lane and her take on the age-old debate between Pierre Cartier and Henry Dunay. Here is this week’s TDQ Q&A with Danielle Lenchner:

The Daily Quarterly: What made you want to be a jewelry designer?

Danielle Lenchner: I grew up around jewelry – my mom and aunt were both in the jewelry business and I started helping them when I was 8 years old. In my early twenties I began selling my designs and came to realize how passionate I actually was about designing. I really can’t imagine doing anything else!

TDQ: Who was your favorite jewelry designer growing up?

DL: I’d have to say that growing up I loved the way Paloma Picasso interpreted classic shapes and letters. I’ve also always loved art deco jewelry – not any designer in particular, but I’ve always been drawn to the aesthetic.

TDQ: Tell us about Coco Lane

DL: Coco Lane is an exciting new luxe fashion jewelry line that is inspired by clean lines and modern geometry. We created a collection with unexpected yet easy to wear statements and basics for everyday.
