Hank Williams, Jr. Under Attack For Comparing The Two Darrens On “Bewitched” To Charlie Sheen And Ashton Kutcher

The Darrens

Hank WIlliams, Jr. is all too familiar with the concept of celebrity replacement. He replaced an earlier version of Hank Williams in the early 50's and will soon be replaced himself.

Nashville, TN—As if Hank Williams, Jr. didn’t have enough to worry about as of late, now he’s drawing the wrath of both “Bewitched” fans and “Two and a Half Men” fans after making an insensitive comparison between the two actors who played Darren on “Bewitched” and Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher.

Speaking on morning drive time on Nashville’s 103.3 WKDF last week, Williams went on a rambling diatribe culminating in him saying, “I mean, it’s really, to me, no different than those two bozos who played Darren on ‘Bewitched’ when you’re talking about Demi Moore’s husband taking over for Martin Sheen’s kid on that TV show.”

Twitter immediately blew up with comments calling for Williams to be deported for being both incredibly insensitive and anti-American. And it seems what few fans Williams still had after his recent dust-up are leaving in droves after this latest public gaffe.

“I’ll give him a pass on the other nonsense he spouted,” said former Hank Williams, Jr. fan Randy Shelby. “That’s politics, I mean, that’s-whatever. But to say something as foolish and insenstive as this? I’m done with him. Done.”

“My analogy, I know, it may have been extreme, but I was trying to make a point,” Williams, Jr. said yesterday through a spokesman. “The thought of the producers of both shows trying to carry on with different stars of the show, while so many other programs got the ax, it simply made me boil over and react. I certainly didn’t mean no disrespect. I have ‘Bewitched’ on DVD at my Nashville home, and very much enjoy it.”

Representatives from “Two and a Half Men” released a statement saying in part, “Are you kidding? With all the other stuff we’ve been dealing with the past year, this is a cakewalk. We’ll take comments like these any day of the week!”

“Bewitched” star Elizabeth Montgomery would not return calls seeking comment.
